Those comments can be insensitive and imply that our God would intentionally cause suffering

It was nice to hear your journey to becoming a a servant for Christ, and how our amazing God has called upon you. After hearing your story of losing a child, and the insensitive comments made by others, I wanted to ask, how do you respond without being offended, is there anything scriptural that would be a good response? I ask because I have often heard others make similar comments to those that have suffered a job loss, loss of a loved one, a traumatic event or awful health diagnosis.
